That will teach me

I have made a push lately for the kids to learn more about current events. I always was irritated as a child when I had to watch the Watergate Hearings (that was a long freaking summer) or watch Nixon's Farewell address when I was home for lunch (I got to eat in front of the TV.. that was a plus!) But over the years I came to understand that it was a good thing to be informed about the world around me.

Of course, my kids fight this completely.... No one wants to watch the news, or heaven forbid, read it...

So imagine my surprise when the Angel came home from her sleep over at her friend, Drina's house, with the news that Steve Irwin was dead. I guess I taught her the lesson, eh?

Somehow, I don't feel triumphant about it.
