Take THAT!
Well,
It turns out that the Angel is not getting the support that she thought she was going to get.
It turns out others feel that she was wrong and I am completely justified in punishing her. Shocker, eh?
We took her to the shrink last night. Turns out she doesn't think cheating and failing in the 6th grade is anything to be proud of either. I explained that while I respect my Angel as an individual, I find that getting lousy grades just to differentiate herself from me is self-destructive. And that until such time as the Angel has properly focused her attentions inward at herself (note to myself... check to see if I can find some bindis to remind her of this focus) I will be forced to do it for her... and as such there will be no cool clothes, sporting events, IMs, cool websites, cheerleading, fun times with friends or anything else that interferes.
Today she is mad at me because I have begun to go over all the school work she has done to date. We will be reviewing it until I am satisfied that she actually understands the materials. She is understandably horrified.
To which I say:
Tough shit.

Don't scare me...
I am terrified of teenage girls.
Luckily, I have a while before ours errupts!
Good to learn early that life is made up of personal choices and consequences for those choices, and it was her choice to strive for lousy grades. Your unpopularity with your Angel means you're doing your job properly. :)
I say tough shit too, but you probably already knew that.
Good on you for sticking to your guns!
