Thursday Thirteen, #2

Thirteen Things about Maman's Thoughts on the Angel's birthday 1. 11?! This means she is a preteen now! AUGH!!!! 2. Why is she so freaking tall and when is she going to stop growing? She is 5'2" already and has a size 7 shoe. 3. Can you believe that she was only 4lbs 9oz when she was born? 4. I did not get to see her the first day of her life. 5. By the time I did see her, she had been intubated. I cried hysterically and the nurses called a social worker for me. 6. I told the social worker I was fine, but that I wanted to baptize my baby. 7. They gave me sterilized water and stood with me while I baptized her. 8. She spent 12 days in neonatal intensive care when she was born. She was 5 weeks early. 9. In the NICU the nurses called her the "Wild Woman" because she yelled everytime the nurses threw something away in the garbage can. 10. I brought her home from the hospital two days before my 29th birthday. 11. I brought her home by myself. The Porn King was away in Seattle on a job interview for a company that he was never really that interested in taking. No, I will never let it go... 12. The first time that I watched ER after I brought my Angel home, it was the episode where a pregnant mother dies as a result of pre-eclampsia. The Angel was born early because I had pre-eclampsia. 13. I need to remember these things when I get angry with her when she is obnoxiously acting her age. All of the children in the NICU were much sicker than she was and some of them died. Many of them have suffered lasting disabilities from their prematurity. My Angel is beautiful and perfect and I am glad that I am her mother. Happy Birthday, Baby! I love you!
