Ewww!

The other day, I ran across this as I was walking my fair pooch (or a reasonable facsimile anyway)...

As I noticed this gothic looking horror, I wondered what had managed to create this mess.

Well today, I got my answer...

I really big bird swept silently over my head and landed in a nearby tree. Wholly schmolly.. What a specimen! I am not really sure if it is red-tailed hawk or a peregrine falcon, but I know for sure that it is NOT a kestrel. We had those at home. They are tough and fierce, but they are not anywhere near the size of this brute! It looked alot like this!

I guess I better get used to seeing more pigeon carcasses (carcii?) in the near future. Not that I consider this a problem.. Those rats with wings have always grossed me out anyway... and lately, they have been carrriers of West Nile Disease... so good riddance!
