Basketball Jones...

I don't know why... but the games that are the most interesting are the ones that I fail to have a camera present at....

Imelda played two whole quarters. Which is something of a miracle... I have not written about my issues with Imelda's coach.. who believes in winning... even if all the girls don't play. in the 6th grade.

Anyway, this time, she was locked and loaded and they all played beautifully together... and won.

The Angel?

Well despite her assertiveness earlier, she was faced with a girl more assertive than she on the court. In fact, I would say this chicky was half way violent.....

The Angel has a certain advantage with her height. Essentially she is a moving wall of tall power. This girlie was short stock and more aggressive than a Catholic girl was ever meant to be.... and sadly without perspective.

At one point while trying to fake out the Angel she decided to skip the formalities and she conk the Angel in the face.... when the Angel went down? She continued her pass... From then on my Angel was wary.... very wary... by the 3rd quarter there were words exchanged... by the 4th this girl looked ready to throw punches.

The Angel's team lost in the last seconds of the game.

When I asked her about the girl, I got a string of invectives from the Angel (who has apparently inherited my potty mouth and then some) that would make a sailor blush. Yes, this other kid was saying very nasty things and was throwing surreptitious punches.

Yup... nothing like Catholic schoolgirl basketball...

I think next time, I am bringing a helmet for the Angel... she might need it against some of these girls.... Shhesh...

Oh and Chicka.... she can't buy the shorts... they are school issued... blech. Luckily they have been found.

Poppy? You may borrow her at any point. As much as I complain out her, I really did want her to have this much attitude... at 12, it can only be ground out of her by life and the world... so I am not too awfully worried that she will end up a completely inappropriate brat...

And Steve, welcome! Don't sweat it... Poppy and I understand each other... there was no insult to anyone... she knows me more than anyone else in the blogosphere....and trust me... The Angel is at one of those ages where most Moms want to slap the hell out of their daughter's... yet, somehow, we resist... no doubt because we remember being 12 ourselves....

Oh, and as I will prolly be cooking like the wind tomorrow early and drunk later... Happy Thanksgiving!

Sometimes it takes EVER.SINGLE.OUNCE of willpower not to smack my 12 year old girl upside the head. Evidently she thinks I'm deaf and cannot hear her muttering under her breath.
EVEN after I've busted her doing it a half-dozen times. Slow learner. LOL

Happy Thanksgiving! :)

Someday she will respect and appreciate all that you do for her.

Just not for another 10 years. :-/
