Um, What?

I stole borrowed this from Chicka, I think I broke this meme while transporting it here.. because I am not really getting the answer I got.

Your Word is "Fearless"

You see life as your one chance to experience everything, and you just go for it!

You believe the biggest risk is being afraid and missing out on something amazing.

Sometimes your fearlessness means you're daring. You enjoy risky activities.

And sometimes your fearlessness means you're courageous. You're brave enough to do the right thing, even when it's scary.

Get to know me

I have seen this at enough places, that I thought I should do one too... Go take a look at Avitable's and ChickaNuts

Accent: I know that being born in NY makes me all East Coast Liberal Elite but I talk like people from Cleveland with a touch of Toronto.

Breakfast or no breakfast: what do you call it when you eat around 11:00am?

Chore I don’t care for: I hate cleaning of all sorts. My mother used to tell me that I better marry a rich man.

Dog or Cat: I have had both. We are still in mourning for Barney the 18 year old cat. But Cinnamon is sleeping on the floor next to me right now.

Essential Electronics: My laptop, my Canon EOS 30D, my digital camcorder and my Tilt phone. At least these are all that I will cop to in public...

Favorite Cologne: Not a normal part of my day, though I do like Chanel #19 and this vanilla-y smelling perfume that you can’t get anymore called Casmir by Chopard…. Mostly I give myself a spritz with rosewater because I have always heard it is good for your skin.

Gold or Silver: I don’t wear much jewelry anymore. But have a mix of yellow gold and platinum for special occasions

Handbag I carry most often: Same old black leather Coach purse I have been carrying for the last decade

Insomnia: when I am really tense and not alone.

Job Title: I prefer, "She who must be obeyed". It isn't getting a lot of traction around here.

Kids: Two daughters, Almost 12 and might survive until 14.

Living Arrangements: House with said kids and husband who hasn’t decided which side his bread is buttered on.

Most Admirable Trait: Per the conclusion of the household, I have none. I know too much for my own good and know how to apply that knowledge.

Naughtiest Childhood Behavior: I bit my nails and was unable to realize that at 10 I was the grownup in the house.

Overnight hospital stays: Charmingly enough, all childbirth related. Including the screwed up gallbladder and hernia repair

Phobias: Spiders. I seem them in my dreams and need to turn the lights on. Fun Daddy is less than amused by this.

Quote: Americans are the only people in the world that think that death is optional.

Reason to smile: Imelda’s sweetness and my pooch

Siblings: Brother that died at age 11 when I was 17 because I let him get pneumonia when he was 9 and bitch sister who feels that she has married above the rest of the family and doesn’t want us around to tell everyone about the stripped naked for Kevin and Christopher Mietlicki when we were allowed to sleep over in their tent.

Time I wake up: 7ish unless Fun Daddy decides to me sleep in. When he is home my brain doesn’t hear the alarm because he turns it off before it dings twice.

Unusual Talent or Skill: Weird selection off cocktail party chatter. I can talk to anyone about almost anything.

Vegetable I Refuse to Eat: I am good with vegetables, at least the standard American ones... Raw seafood is my issue

Worst Habit: Depends on who you talk to. I'm fat, I drink too much, I use language that would make a sailor blush, I yell at people and I still bite my nails. Anything more? Oh yes, I failed in my wifely duty to produce a male heir… and I don’t like to clean. Take your pick. I am horribly flawed, spiteful and bitter.

X-rays: extensive GI series in first grade when I developed an ulcer. Broken left 5th Metatarsal in the 5th grade and full chest series for walking pneumonia in the 6th grade. (I got that on purpose to piss off my mother, I have been told)

Yummy Stuff: creamy, salty foods, but also like sweets and sours. Oh fuck it. I pretty much like all kinds of food

Zoo Animal I Like Most: I am sure that preferred something sweet like dolphins when I was a girl… or unicorns… but now I like the Bonobos… they solve problems using sex. That doesn’t strike me as a bad way to live.

Any Job Worth Doing, Is Worth Doing Well!

At least that is what my Mama always said...

I am not so sure she would be proud of this distinction.

Hmmm, I am nicer than I thought!

You Are 80% Evil

You are very evil. And you're too evil to care.

Those who love you probably also fear you. A lot.

Thanks Kris!

Basketball Jones...

I don't know why... but the games that are the most interesting are the ones that I fail to have a camera present at....

Imelda played two whole quarters. Which is something of a miracle... I have not written about my issues with Imelda's coach.. who believes in winning... even if all the girls don't play. in the 6th grade.

Anyway, this time, she was locked and loaded and they all played beautifully together... and won.

The Angel?

Well despite her assertiveness earlier, she was faced with a girl more assertive than she on the court. In fact, I would say this chicky was half way violent.....

The Angel has a certain advantage with her height. Essentially she is a moving wall of tall power. This girlie was short stock and more aggressive than a Catholic girl was ever meant to be.... and sadly without perspective.

At one point while trying to fake out the Angel she decided to skip the formalities and she conk the Angel in the face.... when the Angel went down? She continued her pass... From then on my Angel was wary.... very wary... by the 3rd quarter there were words exchanged... by the 4th this girl looked ready to throw punches.

The Angel's team lost in the last seconds of the game.

When I asked her about the girl, I got a string of invectives from the Angel (who has apparently inherited my potty mouth and then some) that would make a sailor blush. Yes, this other kid was saying very nasty things and was throwing surreptitious punches.

Yup... nothing like Catholic schoolgirl basketball...

I think next time, I am bringing a helmet for the Angel... she might need it against some of these girls.... Shhesh...

Oh and Chicka.... she can't buy the shorts... they are school issued... blech. Luckily they have been found.

Poppy? You may borrow her at any point. As much as I complain out her, I really did want her to have this much attitude... at 12, it can only be ground out of her by life and the world... so I am not too awfully worried that she will end up a completely inappropriate brat...

And Steve, welcome! Don't sweat it... Poppy and I understand each other... there was no insult to anyone... she knows me more than anyone else in the blogosphere....and trust me... The Angel is at one of those ages where most Moms want to slap the hell out of their daughter's... yet, somehow, we resist... no doubt because we remember being 12 ourselves....

Oh, and as I will prolly be cooking like the wind tomorrow early and drunk later... Happy Thanksgiving!

Six Wineries, A Centennial and a Funeral

It kinda sounds like a movie title, doesn't it?

Well it isn't... it is my month so far.

As mentioned early, I went to my grandmother's birthday party at the beginning of the month. Well, while I was out east I and Fun Daddy and my Dad managed to visit six wineries on the Niagara Escarpment.... yup. That's right... my hometown is now the Napa Valley of Western New York...

Chicka?! How could you fail to mention this development to me? Dang girl!

Naturally we had to partake to the fullest. And I have posted all about it. Just on Vinoverve. Enjoy the posts, really... Fun Daddy is bugging me about readership there...

So... let's see... that was six wineries...

A Centennial is Nanny, obviously. And it was a blast. Of course, like every good celebration in my family, mass was involved. And wow, do we fill a church. Imelda served yet again. This year, though, instead of shadowing another alter server, she filled in for real.. yeah, just like at our church, someone always forgets that they are serving... and the third kid failed to show. So Imelda had to work her away around the alter blindly. But she managed. Because she is a trooper.. A trooper for Christ... (please God, don't strike me dead... I am just trying to amuse my readers.. please?) My cousin, Lisa and Mike's kids brought up the gifts and then, following instructions from Father Joe, went and gave Gram a hug. I think he knows she keeps saying she doesn't want a fuss... and we all know that is just crazy talk.

After mass, we had a lovely reception for the entire community in the church hall. It was hysterical... The Mayor of Lockport or his minion anyway, read a proclamation from the City Council pronouncing October 1, 2007, Celia Beran Day. (he might have said Currie... I am in a mind haze). My Aunt Judy and Uncle Ron were there... as was my cousin Carol and her brood. I haven't seen them in a million years. (Judy and Ron were each individually the best friends of my parents and managed to introduce them... Holy cripes!) My cousin Loretta was there... she took dancing lessons with the evil Margo and I.... she was adorable as always... and her little girl ran like hell around the Church during mass... she was as sweet as co u ld be... only Loretta's daughter could manage to run around all the pews and not interrupt the service with peals of laughter... if you heard any? That was me... But then remember as a toddler I once turned off all the lights in the church.... I have a different way of looking at things....

Ok... This post is amazingly long, so this will need another part... To Be Continued!

Oh, and as a note? Hi Jen! The only cousin that I know who reads this blog! Love you babe!

O Wa ta lazy blogger I am

But I saw this over at Chicka's blog... apparently she stole... uh hmm, "borrowed" it too!

You Are a Lemon Cake

Strong, sexy, and overpowering.
You know who you are, and you're not afraid to show the world your fabulous self.
You're confident, charming, and extremely popular.

Does this mean that I am a little tart?

Just a question.
