How often do you go to Church?

I remember when I just went for Christmas and Easter...

Now, because Lillith is making her confirmation I am going more Sundays then not. Add in Imelda serving at 7:30 am mass all week? Well, today was the 5th time this week that I went.

But honestly, I have learned that it isn't a good idea to just drop Imelda off for early morning mass. Why?

Well, let me explain something about our parish. We have three priests. One is Indian and serves our Syro-Malabar community, one is elderly and Polish and decidedly old school (by which I mean that he doesn't approve of girls being on the altar for any reason) and the third, is a young (35)priest in his first time running a church.

Some weeks the morning mass is the same priest every day or like this week, it switches. And this week on Wednesday and Thursday, Fr. Eugene handled mass. The problem? Fr. Eugene isn't well. He is frail, unsure on his feet and loses his place in the mass or just starts mumbling. This is a problem on a Sunday, when there are cantors, lectors, deacons and three altar servers. But 7:30 in the morning? Who else is the altar with Father? Um, that would be Imelda.

So when He almost past out on the altar? That was Imelda's problem. When he spilled the wine? Imelda. She left church crying with frustration. She doesn't know what to do. Does she help the priest? Does she maintain her role as server? Will Fr. Eugene be mad at her? It is an untenable situation for a 12 year old to be in.

So the next time she has that early morning mass? One of her parents will be there to help her if she needs it.

Somehow I don't think I am getting the right information

Do you have a weatherbug? That little icon in the corner of your computer that is supposed to tell you the current temperature?

Mine says it is 43o. It is LYING. How do I know this? Well, when I walked the dog earlier this evening it was snowing. Teeny tiny little glass-like pellets of snow. Call me crazy, but that doesn't happen at 43o. And the wind doesn't blow in gusts of 50 mph, which drives the glass-pellety-icy snow into your eyeballs, thus blinding you. Making Imelda cry.

Luckily, I grew up with this crazy level of snow having been born in Lockport, NY. Where it snowed like that all the fucking time. So I led Imelda home through the bone-chilling, glassy-ice-pellet-ripping-your-eyeballs-out snow white-out conditions. Please note my coat in the top picture. see that white? that is the snow that still didn't melt after it took Imelda five minutes to snap this picture. Bah! Originally it looked like my coat was quilted with white thread... and Imelda laughed her ass off about the snow on my eyebrows.

I am afraid for this blog, you will just have to imagine it. It is, as my grandmother would say, cold as a witches tit.

All Right, Missy!

I have had enough of this crap!

Do you hear me?

Hannah? Miley? Billy Ray? Any of you Jonas Brothers boys? Is anyone there?

Or is this just the silence that I hit when dealing with Ticketmaster?

Yup... just what I thought. I got screwed over by Hannah Montana again. Like an idiot, I went back and tried again for the tickets. 10am... the main set of tickets went on sale. And by 10:03 I got the rejection.

No tickets at any price.

So I called... maybe the online thing is screwed up? Well hope springs eternal, I guess.

Nope. There aren't 4 tickets together.

Ok? Can I get two?

Sure. But they are in DIFFERENT SECTIONS. "You're joking," I said, "This is a concert for 10 year olds." Nope. He wasn't joking. The time was now 10:15. I asked if there were EVER any tickets available. He claimed that there were. I should keep coming back to check... to see if people cancel their tickets... or sell them through TicketMasters new TicketExchange... Where both I and the jerk who is trying to hustle me for way overpriced tickets can get gouged by TicketMaster.

Bite Me.

TicketsNow has seats: $188-1,525... those tickets that are almost $200 were selling for $22.
Stub Hub: $159-$1,629
Ticket Liquidator: $167-$6,844
GoTickets.com: $215-$1,650

I could go on and on...

So I guess the lesson to Imelda is this:

Show business sucks. They want to drain every last penney from you and give you nothing in return. Even a little girl from the Disney Channel. This concert has been a screwjob from the beginning.

Blech.

I am going back to bed.
